The Corona Virus has changed all our lives in many ways. What it hasn’t changed is knowing how important it is to keep ministering to our kids! So many churches and individuals are doing so many innovative and creative things, it’s wonderful to see people being willing to share their incredible talents!
A big disappointment for many kids and families was the cancellation of Big Camp this year in all states and territories. And while we know that nothing can ever replace having the ‘Big Camp’ experience, the AUC Children’s Ministries team was determined to do something that would hopefully ease the pain. So together, we formulated a plan that included singing, a message, craft, activities and object lessons all around the theme ‘Finding Jesus’. It was a whirlwind of activity that was launched on Easter Friday.
Thousands of people engaged with the Big Camp @ Home concept, some even camping in their back yards or living rooms to maximise the experience! Many parents shared pictures of their children completely engrossed watching a story or talk. Others shared pictures of completed crafts and Lego challenges.
For the AUC Children’s Ministries team, it has been a blessing to hear the feedback that kids were so thankful to have something created specifically for them. That parents were grateful for a program that was meant to engage, teach and help our kids grow into a deeper relationship with Jesus. We, the team, are so happy and honoured that we get to work alongside parents and families!
If you haven’t had a chance to check it out we encourage you to do so. And we hope and pray it is a blessing to you as it has been to many others. Please know that we are continuing to pray for our families and kids as we go through these uncertain and very different times!
