Prs Roman Chalupka and Luiz Berumudez have been visiting our churches, with a Bible Roadshow of sorts!  This week we received two stories about recent events.  Pr Chalupka has a very old collection of Bibles, and runs a program for local communities sharing some of the historicity of the Bible.

At our Western Spanish Church, the youth took the initiative and collaborated with the pastorls to showcase a collection of historical Bibles and artefacts to their local community. ‘The Bible Museum’ ran for two sessions with over 63 attendees, ten being from non-Adventist background.

Attendees were greeted at the door with a show bag.   Fun Bible facts were on display,  There was a short animated video outlining the history of the Bible as well as a chance to have a photo  taken next to Martin Luther!

The event was considered a success with a lot of positive feedback.  The youth were thrilled with the messages they received, such as the following:  “Hi Western Spanish SDA Youth, I’ve just downloaded the Bible onto our phones.  My husband is always on the phone looking at the News and AFL.  He hears the Word at church almost every Sunday but after our talk at ‘The Bible Museum’, he seemed interested to read more.  The seed has sprouted.  Thank you1”

The Western Spanish SDA Youth, would like to thank God for using Pr Roman’s Bible collection to expository, teach and enlighten those who attended the event outlining the importance of the Bible and  of its impact in our lives.

At Bairnsdale Church, they called their program ‘The Story of the Book’.   The display included a description of how books were first produced and interesting and rare examples from ancient history up to the present.

There were parts of the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Guttenberg Bible, Bibles on stamps and Bibles in Latin, German, and other languages.  It was fascinating to view the many exhibits.  Both pastors clearly love and know their subject well.  Visitors from the community were also present and asked many questions about the books.

The pastors are working with the Bible Society to set up a museum of the Bible, both financially and in other practical ways.  Roman, who pastors the Dandenong Polish church, hopes to gain support from others interested in the project.  You may contact him by email [email protected] if you are interested in helping in any way or would like to have a Bible roadshow come to your church.
