Each year the Victorian Young Achiever Awards recognise the achievements of young people across Victoria.
The purpose of the awards is to acknowledge, encourage and most importantly promote the positive achievements of all young people up to and including 29 years of age as of 31st December each year.
Congratulations to Lorraine Ngwenya, the winner of Saward Dawson Community Service and Social Impact Award, which celebrates young social entrepreneurs, community service workers and volunteers who are dedicated to the needs of others and who seek innovative solutions to address social issues.
The Community Service Award receives by far the most nominations, making the task of the judges even more difficult and Lorraine’s recognition is all the more significant, coming up against so many other worthy recipients.
Lorraine is committed to addressing youth unemployment and is the founder of Useful Link, an organisation that seeks to empower young people in areas of employment, personal development and leadership. She has worked with over 2000 young people over the last two and a half years.
