Have you given any thought to how our country churches are coping with the ever changing status of restrictions? In that brief hiatus of ‘freedom’ we had, some of the churches with memberships small enough were able to carry on as ‘usual’. Sadly it did not last long.
Ben Townson, pastor for Longwarry and Warragul, says they are looking at combining youth programs with other churches in the region, and engaging some really good presenters to help with the youth sabbath school. What a great idea – pool resources and produce something the youth will really benefit from. It will build connections between the regional churches too.
Church members arrange for letters to arrive at the homes of Primary SS children, with resources for the coming week’s program. That way they have the things they need to be able to participate, things to do, and something to show on screen.
Ben and his team of elders have created a system where they will be making regular phone calls to all their members and church friends, to care for them individually as online interaction is less personal, and some members don’t have access to the internet. For a while there, when we could have gatherings of 20, both churches were running with a booking system to monitor the numbers and attendances. At least that is set up now, for when they can utilise it again.
