Mernda Company of believers has recently been recognised as an organised church of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
As a group of believers, they first began meeting together around ten years ago. Coming from Preston Church, their intention was to form a church community further north, with a strong evangelistic focus.
When the Conference purchased the Mernda Campus of Gilson College, the group moved from their rented premises in Epping, to the school chapel at the campus.
As they grew, they developed a strong interest in partnering with the College for evangelism, hosting a weekly youth program called Fire Up and regularly inviting students and their families to their programs. They were also very active with the It is Written outreach program in 2019. They now have around 70 members, with approximately 10% of these being new to Adventism. Their Adventurers and Pathfinder clubs are active with 30-40% of participants being from the community.
Praise God for this small group of believers with a big heart for mission. Congratulations, Mernda members, and welcome to the sisterhood of churches.
