During the remote learning for students at Edinburgh College, a number of challenges were set for the College students and staff to help keep them motivated. The four week Strava fitness challenge attracted 131 participants who, by either running, cycling or walking, covered a distance of 9,408kms. A series of one-off fun challenges including mud, singing and bananas were all taken on board. The cooking challenge discovered a number of very talented chefs at Edinburgh, who submitted videos and photos of their culinary skills.
Another challenge which reached out into the local community was the Speak Life Challenge designed to encourage others who might have been struggling during the recent lockdown. Each student was sent four Speak Life postcards to write a message to an individual such as a healthcare worker, small business owner, police or other services and to post or deliver it where possible. Students took on this challenge with great enthusiasm, many requesting more cards be sent for them to use. The College received a number of messages of gratitude from the local community in the weeks that followed.
