2020 really put into perspective the bare minimum requirements of what ‘church’ looks like and helped us align our activities. We found a renewed focus on the Sabbath School time, not simply from a study perspective, but from a pastoral care perspective too. In 2021, as we begin to reopen we’ve been trialling new formats for Sabbath worship. We’re no longer locked into the 11am worship service and 9:30 Sabbath School. We’re not locked into Sabbath School and then Church, it could be Church and then Sabbath School. Currently things are still uncertain as to what our plans are longer term, and, in some respects that can be seen as disruptive, but 2020 was disruptive, and we don’t want to simply go back to how things were, but rather want to be intentional about assessing what is most important.
