The Springvale Sudanese group of believers recently celebrated as four people were baptised. What started as a stressful day for lay pastor, Gatkuoth Chol, who was frantically calling up pastors to find someone to fill in as the pastor who was scheduled to help was unwell, became one of praise and worship. Pr Paul Kotanko didnt hesitate to say he could help, and officiated.
The candidates invited their friends, family and relatives to be a part of this special day and witness their decision to follow the Lord.
One old lady who attends a different denomination, was invited by her daughter. The elderly lady was seated at the front so she could see the baptism of her youngest daughter clearly, never having attended a baptism before.
As the daughter came out of the water, her mother hugged her, both of them crying with joy.
“Is this baptism?” she asked. “Yes” replied the daughter, “I will follow you, my daughter,” responded the mother, who has since expressed interest in having Bible studies.
