The first stage of Pavilions Blackburn Lake, the retirement village built on the former Campground site was officially opened on the 14th of April 2021.
The event capped off over 15 years of work and was attended by around 200 people. Special guests included the Federal Member for Chisholm Ms Gladys Liu MP, Hon. Bruce Atkinson MP and local Whitehorse Council ward councilors. The event was attended by project consultants and partners, residents and nearly 100 prospective purchasers.
Pr Graeme Christian spoke on how significant the Pavilions project is, being the largest project undertaken by the Church in Victoria. Galen Gan, Pavilions Project Lead spoke about how at the core of Pavilions, was people; “whether it is the governance committees, or project teams working together, or the operations staff striving to go the extra mile, or our lovely residents who call Pavilions ‘home’, at the core of everything we have done here – is people.”
The event concluded with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque, and the planting of a foundation tree. The event was an opportunity to celebrate this significant project milestone and acknowledge the many blessings God had provided us in helping us get to this point.
