MELBOURNE

First Step – Melbourne

CURRENT FROM 11.59pm 13 SEPTEMBER 2020:

Curfew in place 9pm to 5am
Stay within 5km of your home except for permitted reasons such as work or education if these cannot be done at home
Exercise or recreation: 2 people or a household can meet outdoors for two hours maximum
Visitors to the home: “Single person bubble” 1 nominated visitor if living alone/single parent (all children under 18)
Shopping for essentials, 1 person per household, once a day
Weddings: only for compassionate reasons, with up to 5 people (including the couple, two witnesses and celebrant)
Funerals: allowed with up to 10 people (not including infants under 12 months of age or people required to conduct the funeral)
Religion: places of worship closed. Only via live broadcast.

Second Step – Melbourne

Metro Melbourne can move to the second step after 28 September AND when we reach an average daily case rate in metro Melbourne of 30 to 50 cases over a 14-day period with public health advice regarding transmission source.

Only leave home for 4 reasons: school or work (if these cannot be done from home), care or caregiving, to purchase essentials, exercise
Public gatherings: up to 5 people from a maximum of 2 households can meet outdoors for social interaction (infants under 12 months of age are not included in the cap)

The time period must pass AND the number of cases must be low enough to move to the next step. This is a trigger point for public health review.

No restrictions on leaving home
Spend time with others outside where possible
Public gatherings: up to 10 people
Visitors allowed at home from 1 other household (up to 5 people)
Weddings:allowed with up to 10 people (including the couple, two witnesses and celebrant)
Funerals:allowed with up to 20 people (not including infants under 12 months of age or people required to conduct the funeral)
Religion:outdoor religious gatherings for up to 10 people plus a faith leader, facilities open for private worship for households or social bubbles, plus a faith leader.

Last Step – Melbourne

CURRENT AFTER 23 NOVEMBER AND when there are no new cases for 14 days. The time period must pass AND the number of cases must be low enough to move to the next step. This is a trigger point for public health review.

No restrictions on leaving home
Public gatherings: up to 50 people outdoors
Visitors in the home: up to 20 visitors at a time
Weddings: allowed with 50 people (including the couple, two witnesses and celebrant), 20 in a private residence
Funerals:allowed with 50 people (not including infants under 12 months of age or people required to conduct the funeral), 20 in a private residence
Religion: public worship (not including private ceremonies e.g. baptism) can resume in outdoor and indoor settings subject to density quotient

COVID Normal – Melbourne

CURRENT WHEN there are no new cases for 28 days and no active cases (state-wide) and no outbreaks of concern in other States and Territories. This is a trigger point for public health review.

No restrictions on public gatherings but organisers encouraged to keep records of attendees
No restrictions on visitors at home
Weddings, funerals, religion: no limits but organisers required to keep records of attendees

Funerals: allowed with up to 10 people (not including infants under 12 months of age or people required to conduct the funeral).
Religion: places of worship closed, outdoor gatherings (not ceremonies) of up to 5 people, plus 1 faith leader, proximate to a place of worship, are allowed.

Update August 2, 2020

From 6pm August 2, 2020, Melbourne will also move to Stage 4 restrictions with stronger rules to limit the movement of people – and limit the spread of this virus across our city.

Key changes

Metropolitan Melbourne:

Areas affected: Banyule, Hume, Moreland, Bayside, Kingston, Mornington Peninsula, Boroondara, Knox, Nillumbik, Brimbank, Manningham, Port Phillip, Cardinia, Maribyrnong, Stonnington, Casey, Maroondah, Whitehorse, Darebin, Melbourne, Whittlesea, Frankston, Melton, Wyndham, Glen Eira, Monash, Yarra, Greater Dandenong, Moonee Valley, Yarra Ranges, Hobsons Bay.
If you live in metropolitan Melbourne, you will be required to stay home unless you need to leave for four reasons. These reasons are — shopping for food and supplies, care and caregiving, exercise within 5 kilometres of your home, and study and work, if you can’t do it from home.

Exemptions include visiting a person with whom you are in an intimate personal relationship, including outside metropolitan Melbourne.

Exercise will also be limited to within 5 kilometres of a resident’s home. They will continue to be allowed to exercise with only one other person, and it will be limited to once per day for a maximum of one hour.
You must also wear a mask when you leave home for one of the four reasons
Mitchell Shire will move to stage three restrictions
An 8:00pm to 5:00am curfew will be in place from 6:00pm Sunday, August 2 for six weeks until September 13^th.
Residents will not be allowed to have visitors in their home. They can be in public with up to two people maximum, including a member of their household.
Couples that live more than 5 kilometres apart will still be allowed to visit each other.
Organised sport, such as golf and fishing will not be allowed.
Funerals will be allowed and remain unchanged, but weddings will not go ahead unless there’s a compassionate reason. up to 10 people, plus those conducting the funeral.
The 5 KM requirement is not applied on pastors and volunteers leaving home for streaming at a church.
Travel within Victoria outside metropolitan Melbourne: allowed for work, education (if necessary), and care/compassionate purposes only

Statement On Changes To Melbourne’s Restrictions

Regional Victoria: Regional Victoria will move to Stage 3 of the Lockdown including Mitchell Shire

Places of worship will go back to live streaming. Maximum of 5
Weddings are limited to five people – the couple, two witnesses and the celebrant.
Funerals will be limited to 10 mourners plus those required to conduct the funeral.
Attending a wedding or funeral is a permitted reason to leave home. Attending a funeral is a permitted reason to enter metropolitan Melbourne.
