About 18 months ago Adventist Women Victoria had a vision of running a program specifically for young professional women.  Women’s Ministries already had an annual program for young women, the teen oriented Pursuit weekend.  And it hosted UPLIFT, a prayer, praise and testimony conference and the RENEW Women’s Conference at Philip Island.  But something specific for the 18 to 35 age group was being missed.  And so, IMPACT was born.

Thus, on a cold blistery Sabbath Afternoon in May, over 30 people attended the first IMPACT event, hosted at The Savoy in Melbourne’s CBD.  They may have wondered why they were out on such a cold afternoon, however as they entered the doors of The Savoy, located conveniently near the train station, they were welcomed by a warm relaxed atmosphere.  Led by a praise and worship team, the women worshipped our great God who wants authentic connection with each of us.  Lyndelle Peterson from the Australian Conference spoke, exploring the story of Abigail in 1 Samuel, and how her story is a type of Jesus and how He stands in the gap between us and God’s righteous anger against sin.  Why wouldn’t we want a connection with such a great God.

The ladies enjoyed afternoon tea and then Lyndelle hosted a workshop on finding God’s purpose for your life, where questions such as what does the restlessness in your life suggest were explored.  Lyndelle spoke openly, illustrating her points with anecdotal stories from her past, keeping everyone enthralled.

Facilitated by Chantelle and Sarah, it was a lovely afternoon, and before everyone knew, it was 6pm and finishing time.  For those of you who missed, out, look out for this event next year.  It is well worth attending.
